An eatery in Lawrence, KS

Marci, Aiden and I went out to Lawrence, home of University of Kansas (KU for short).

We went to the Half Price Book store which I love and we ate lunch at a really cool cafe called WheatFields Bakery.

They have a very large and expensive wood-burning oven that makes delicious bread. The people there were all colorful local types-the cool college crowd. The gentleman at the register who graciously introduced to the WheatFields experience had a bull ring hanging on his nose and two huge quarter sized plates hanging in his ears...lots of tatoos around the place. I liked it.

There was a line to buy the bread. It looked good. Real dark. Bread should be cooked dark and NOT stored in plastic bags. That ruins it. We got some sourdough that was good and a plain Italian loaf that was good.

We ordered sandwhiches and sat down to eat. They used their space well. It was packed tight with chairs, tables, and whatever else restaurants have. It was nice. I like the laid back atmosphere that accepts grungy street-protesters and business suits alike.

It makes you want to have a place, you know?

About Me

Someimtes I feel like I was made for distant lands and agricultural awareness. You know, the kind of guy that carries a machete and fights bad guys all in the name of God.
